Simplicity

A guy’s “Hi” sign

Maybe you’d call it simplicity

I tend to prefer the unassuming over carefully staged compositions.

Maybe you’d call it simplicity.

That’s what I like.

Everyone has their own unique qualities.

As for me, I’m drawn to things that feel clean and light—simple, uncluttered.

That applies to the way I draw, too.

Fleeting sparkles, those sudden moments that make you catch your breath—

those are the kinds of things that excite me and that I want to capture in my work.

For a long time, I couldn’t really get into idol songs.

But one day, I came across a phrase like, “Why not have a favorite you don’t have to be deeply devoted to?”

It surprised me—“So it’s okay to like something in a soft, casual way?”

And then, very recently, I found myself having a favorite, and it made me happy.

At my core, my compass still points toward simplicity, lightness, and the everyday.

But now, highly stylized idol videos—with their intense focus—have entered that space, and I finally understand what people mean when they say, “Being a fan is fun.”

It really is fun.

I’m glad my capacity to embrace things has grown, even just a little.
