When people ask me, “Do you prefer the ocean or the mountains?”
I used to vaguely think, “Maybe the mountains.”
And yet—when the roads are wide and the flow of people is calm, I feel an incredible sense of ease and excitement.
I love watching stacks of shipping containers.
Just imagining them setting off from here to distant countries fills me with anticipation. I find myself wondering where each shipment came from.
Seeing international delivery trucks gives me that same quiet thrill.
There’s a sense of expansion—space, openness, room to breathe.
And thinking that way makes it easier to take a deep breath. It simply feels good.
I think that when I used to read novels, they connected me to somewhere beyond here.
Now, I find that same feeling in port towns.
I tend to get bored easily and forget even yesterday’s things,
but this sense of excitement—toward containers, ports, and the world beyond—has stayed with me.
